Discount Settings allow your practice to precisely control and manage all patient discounts. They enable you to set clear limits on the discount that can be applied to a code, configurable at both the account level and for individual locations. This ensures practices do not offer unchecked discounts to patients.

Set Up Discount Limits
To set up discount limits for your practice:
Navigate to the System Menu > select Practice Settings > Fee Tables > Discount Settings.
To configure the maximum discount at the Account Level,
Click Edit.
- Set the following criteria under Account settings:
- Limit Maximum Discount: Select Yes to set a maximum discount percentage.
- Max Discount Percentage: Enter the maximum discount percentage that can be applied to codes.
- Prevent reducing fee for code: Select Yes to prevent users from reducing code fees beyond a fixed limit. This prevents users from manually altering the fees as a discount.
- Once all changes are made, click Save.

To configure maximum discounts for specific locations,
Under Location Settings, click Edit next to the desired location.
- Set the following criteria:
- Use Account Settings: Select No to override the account-level discount limit for the selected location.
- Limit Maximum Discount: Select Yes to set a maximum discount percentage.
- Max Discount Percentage: Enter the maximum discount percentage that can be applied to codes.
- Prevent reducing fee for code: Select Yes to prevent users from reducing code fees beyond a fixed limit. This prevents users from manually altering the fees as a discount.
- Once all changes are made, click Save.
On applying a maximum discount to a code via touchpoints such as the Chart or Appointment slide-out, the Discount Percentage/Amount will be capped beyond the set limit.
- A warning message will appear stating, 'The discount percentage/amount exceeds the allowed limit and has been capped for the code'.
When applying a discount beyond the set limit to multiple codes at a time, you can view the selected codes by clicking on Code List.
- Similarly, Fee cannot be reduced in CodeStack for the desired code beyond the applied limit.
- A warning message stating 'Fee cannot be reduced due to discount limit configuration' will also appear.
Manage Permissions
To access Discount Settings, ensure the related permissions are enabled in Practice Settings. To do this,
- Navigate to the System Menu > select Practice Settings > Administration > Profiles.
- Click Manage Permissions on the intended profile.
- Select Practice Settings on the left and locate Fee Table.
- Check the View Discount limits and Add/Edit Discount limits boxes to enable the permissions.
- Click Save.
